Our Pastor: Reverend Charles Washington

Rev. Charles Washington is a native of Staten Island, NY and is the eldest son of Marie and Charles Washington, also of Staten Island. He was raised in the West Brighton community where he lived for many years. Rev Washington received his calling and became a spokesperson for his community.

Rev. Washington received his education from the New York City school system and furthered his education by attending the College of New Rochelle where he majored in Psychology and graduated with a degree in Liberal Arts. Pastor Washington furthered his studies by attending the Blanton Peele Institute, where he received a degree in Pastoral Counseling. Other accomplishments that he received were a certificate in Christian Ministry from New York Theological Seminary and graduated from the New Jersey Conference School of the Prophets.

Rev Washington became a member of Shiloh A.M.E. Zion Church, Staten Island in 1988 under the leadership of Rev. Louis M. Richardson, who he recognizes as his father in ministry. Rev Washington has long roots at Shiloh, where his grandmother (Ms. Helena Bishop) and other family are members.

His most recent pastorate was at People’s A.M.E. Zion Church in Carteret, New Jersey.  He previously pastored at St. James A.M.E. Zion Church in Matawan, New Jersey; Antioch A.M.E. Zion Church in Linden, New Jersey; and Faith A.M.E. Zion Church in Plainfield, New Jersey.

He was formally employed by the Board of Education as a teacher’s assistant and believes he is using the gifts that God endowed him with.

Rev. Washington is the proud husband of Mrs. Marlene Washington for the past 30 years.; to this union they have a daughter, Imani-Rebecca Washington.

The scripture that is the watchword of his life is Luke 12:48 “…unto whom much is given much is required”

When is Sunday Service?

We welcome you to join Sunday service at 11:00am every Sunday. Our services are hybrid, meaning that they are held virtually (through Zoom) and in-person.

When is Bible Study?

Bible Study is held virtually and in-person every Tuesday at 7:00pm

When is Sunday School?

Sunday schoo begins at 10:00am every Sunday.  Sunday School is hybrid meaning that you can log on through Zoom and you can also attend in-person.
